Salmon Guru is not an easy venue to photograph — and that's the point. An eclectic Madrid bar and restaurant with bold, theatrical interiors and a kitchen to match, it needed images that could hold all that character without tipping into noise.
The work spanned two fronts: interior photography of the space, and food and drink photography that brought the venue's gastronomy to the front. Two different briefs, one consistent eye.

The approach
The job was to let a maximalist space read clearly. We shot the interiors to capture atmosphere and identity at once — composing the chaos rather than fighting it, so the room feels as alive in a frame as it does in person.
For the food and drink, the approach turned intimate: controlled light, close framing and careful styling to give each plate and glass presence and texture. The aim throughout was honesty — images that make you want to be there, without dressing the place up as something it isn't.

The result
The photographs became the images the venue is known by: shots chosen to represent Salmon Guru across both The World's 50 Best Bars and the Top 500 Bars listings — where it ranked #37 and #11 respectively in 2025 — as well as on the bar's own website.
When two separate international rankings and the venue itself all reach for your photographs to stand in for the place, the images are doing their job. Together with the interiors, the food and drink shots capture the venue's gastronomy on its own terms — a body of work that represents a difficult, brilliant space wherever it's seen.
